Story runs deep

January 7, 2009 · Leave a Comment

And so do the puddles these days!

Just wanted to say thank you to everyone who braved the floods last night to join us at the first Story Salon!  I never would have imagined that the stories would range from Norse mythology to biotech innovation to boxed wine research in South Africa :)

WHAT’S NEXT:
I plan to keep this going, sticking with this regular time-slot: the first Tuesday of every month from 6-8 at Waazubee.  As you know, these types of events depend on word of mouth to build and grow, so please continue to invite story-minded friends and colleagues to join us.

STAY CONNECTED:
I will NOT be sending out reminder emails – don’t want to jam up inboxes more than they already are. So please, mark the next date on your calendar NOW (Feb. 3) and continue check in here for updates.

I also welcome you to contribute to the blog. If you already have a WordPress username, email it to me and I’ll add you add a contributor.

Thanks again for sharing. Stay dry out there and I’ll see you next month.

Story trumps snow!

January 5, 2009 · Leave a Comment

The Salon is still on for Jan. 6!

Waazubee is just 8 blocks from the Skytrain – a great alternative for those who haven’t yet dug out their cars.

Bring your snow stories – can you imagine a better ice-breaker? (Pun intended!)

See you there!

Welcome to the Story Salon!

November 18, 2008 · 1 Comment

The Story Salon is an informal, monthly gathering of professionals in B.C.’s Lower Mainland who use story in their work.  The idea is create an opportunity for story practitioners to get together “off the clock” to rant, rave, drink, dine – whatever.  (It’s something like Green Drinks, if you’ve ever joined them).

There’s no agenda nor presentation. Everyone is welcome – from journalists and educators – to park interpreters and extreme programmers.  You don’t need to be a story expert – just someone who appreciates the power and value of using story for something other than art & entertainment.  Our goal is to be inclusive, collegial, inquisitive (and maybe even just a little fun!)

We meet on the first Tuesday of every month, from 6 – 8 p.m. at the Waazubee Cafe, 1622 Commercial Drive, just north of First Ave in Vancouver.

That’s it!  If you have any questions, email storysalon [AT] watershedstories.com for more info.

See you there!
